Reading Uptime Data
Understand uptime summaries, response time charts, and status indicators
Domain Pilot provides detailed uptime statistics and visualizations to help you understand your domain's reliability over time.
Uptime Summaries
The statistics table shows aggregated data across multiple time periods:
- Availability — Uptime percentage (proportion of successful checks)
- Avg. Response — Average response time across all successful checks
- Downtime — Total accumulated downtime during the period
- Incidents — Number of downtime incidents detected
- Longest Incident — Duration of the longest single incident
- Avg. Incident — Average duration across all incidents
Availability Color Coding
- 99.9% or higher (green) — Outstanding uptime, well within industry standards
- 99.0%–99.89% (green) — Solid uptime, acceptable for most services
- 95.0%–98.99% (yellow) — Needs attention, noticeable downtime is occurring
- Below 95% (red) — Significant downtime, investigate immediately
Availability Benchmarks
- 99.9% over 30 days = ~43 minutes of downtime
- 99.0% over 30 days = ~7.2 hours of downtime
- 95.0% over 30 days = ~1.5 days of downtime
Response Time Chart
The chart visualizes how your domain's response time changes over time, with separate lines for each monitoring region.
Time Ranges
- 24 hours (format: HH:mm) — Best for investigating recent issues
- 7 days (format: MMM d HH:mm) — Best for weekly performance review
- 30 days (format: MMM d) — Best for monthly trends and patterns
Reading the Chart
- X-axis — Time, formatted based on the selected range
- Y-axis — Response time in milliseconds
- Lines — One colored line per monitoring region
- Hover — Move your cursor over the chart to see exact values per region at any point
- Legend — Region names with color indicators appear below the chart
What to Look For
- Spikes — Sudden increases in response time may indicate server load issues
- Gradual increase — A steady upward trend suggests growing performance problems
- Regional differences — Large gaps between regions may indicate CDN or routing issues
- Flat lines near zero — After a downtime incident, response times often return to baseline quickly
Response Time Benchmarks
- Under 200ms — Excellent
- 200–500ms — Good
- 500ms–1s — Acceptable
- Over 1s — Slow, may affect user experience
Status Indicators
Throughout the domain dashboard, status is indicated with visual cues:
- Online — The domain is responding correctly
- Offline — The domain is currently down
Uptime percentage colors follow the same thresholds: green (99%+), yellow (95–99%), red (below 95%).
