Domain Expiring — kettle.dev

In Slack, by email, on your phone.

Reminders arrive wherever your other alerts do, with the domain, how long is left and what to do about it.

The one that would have slipped.

When the registrar won’t renew a domain, the seven-day reminder becomes a separate warning that says exactly that, so it doesn’t read like the six before it.

Domain Expiring (Auto-Renew Off) — kettle.dev

Built for the ways domains get lost.

A reminder only helps if the date is right and it reaches you. These make sure it does.

  • Expiry dates you don’t type in

Expiry and auto-renew status come straight from your registrars, synced daily, so a renewal elsewhere moves the date for you.

  • Every registrar, one schedule

Domains at GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare and eight more follow the same reminders, wherever they’re registered.

  • Auto-renew off gets its own warning

At seven days, a domain the registrar won’t renew gets a separate, louder alert that says so.

  • Lapsed domains don’t go quiet

Once a domain expires you get a daily alert until it’s renewed, for up to a year.

  • Certificates too

On paid plans, SSL certificates are checked daily and you’re reminded every day from 30 days before one expires.

  • Independent of uptime

Pausing uptime monitoring for a domain doesn’t pause its renewal reminders.

Renewal reminders, answered.

When are renewal reminders sent?

90, 60, 30, 14, 7, 3 and 1 day before a domain expires, once each. If auto-renew is off, an extra warning goes out at seven days, and after expiry there’s a daily alert until the domain is renewed.

Where do the expiry dates come from?

From your connected registrars, which are synced daily. Domains added by hand use the expiry date you enter.

Which channels do reminders use?

The same ones as your other alerts: email, Slack, push on the iOS app and the browser. Choose which channels get expiring and expired domains in your notification settings.

Does Domain Pilot renew domains for me?

No. Renewal stays at your registrar. Domain Pilot makes sure you know in time, and tells you plainly when auto-renew is off.

Are SSL certificates included?

Yes, on paid plans. Certificates are checked daily, with a reminder every day from 30 days before expiry.
