Step-by-step guide to connect your GoDaddy account to Domain Pilot

This guide walks you through connecting your GoDaddy account to Domain Pilot so you can manage all your GoDaddy domains from a single dashboard.

GoDaddy API Access Requirements

GoDaddy has restricted access to their production API. This is a limitation imposed by GoDaddy, not by Domain Pilot. To use their DNS and Domain Management APIs, your GoDaddy account must meet one of the following:

  • Have at least 10 domains in your GoDaddy account
  • Have an active Premium Discount Domain Club plan

Accounts that don't meet these requirements will not be able to generate production API keys. If you're affected by this, please contact GoDaddy support for further assistance.

Step 1: Access the GoDaddy Developer Portal

  1. Log in to your GoDaddy account at developer.godaddy.com
  2. Navigate to the API Keys section

Step 2: Create an API Key

  1. Click Create New API Key

  1. Enter a name for your key (e.g., "Domain Pilot")
  2. Select Production as the environment

Step 3: Copy Your Credentials

After creating the key, you'll be shown:

  • Key — your API key
  • Secret — your API secret
Important: The secret is only shown once. Copy and save both values securely before closing the dialog.

Step 4: Connect in Domain Pilot

  1. Log in to Domain Pilot
  2. Go to Settings → Registrars
  3. Click Add Registrar and select GoDaddy

Verifying the Connection

Once connected, Domain Pilot will automatically sync your domains. This usually takes a few seconds. You should see all your GoDaddy domains appear in the Domains section.

Troubleshooting

"Invalid API Credentials" Error

  • Double-check that you're using the Production key, not a test/OTE key
  • Ensure you copied the full key and secret without extra spaces
  • Try generating a new API key if the issue persists

Domains Not Appearing

  • Ensure the API key has access to the account holding the domains
  • If you have multiple GoDaddy accounts, verify you're using the correct one
  • Allow a few minutes for the initial sync to complete
