Step-by-step guide to connect your Cloudflare account to Domain Pilot

This guide walks you through connecting your Cloudflare account to Domain Pilot so you can manage all your Cloudflare domains from a single dashboard.

Before You Begin

  • A Cloudflare account with at least one domain
  • Access to the Cloudflare dashboard

Step 1: Access API Tokens

  1. Log in to the Cloudflare dashboard
  2. Click on your profile icon in the top right
  3. Select My Profile

Step 2: Create an API Token

  1. Click Create Token

  1. Under Custom token, click Get started
  2. Configure the token with the following permissions:
    • ZoneDNSEdit
    • ZoneDNS SettingsEdit
    • AccountRegistrar: DomainsRead
  3. Under Account Resources, select Include → your account
  4. Under Zone Resources, select IncludeAll zones from an account → your account
  5. Click Continue to summary

Step 3: Copy Your API Token

  1. Review the token summary and click Create Token

Important: The token is only shown once. Copy and save it securely before leaving the page. Copy the API token

Step 4: Find Your Account ID

  1. Go to your Cloudflare account home
  2. Click the three-dot menu (···) next to your account
  3. Select Copy account ID

Step 5: Connect in Domain Pilot

  1. Log in to Domain Pilot
  2. Go to SettingsRegistrars
  3. Click Add Registrar and select Cloudflare
  4. Paste your API Token and Account ID
  5. Click Connect

Verifying the Connection

Once connected, Domain Pilot will automatically sync your domains. This usually takes a few seconds. You should see all your Cloudflare domains appear in the Domains section.

Troubleshooting

"Invalid Token" Error

  • Ensure you copied the full token without extra spaces
  • Verify the token has not been rolled or deleted in Cloudflare
  • Check that the token has the correct permissions (DNS:Edit, DNS Settings:Edit, Registrar:Domains:Read)

Only Some Domains Appearing

  • If you restricted the token to specific zones, only those domains will sync
  • Edit the token in Cloudflare to include All zones if you want all domains

"Insufficient Permissions" Error

  • The token needs at minimum DNS:Edit and Registrar:Domains:Read permissions
  • Edit the token in Cloudflare and add the required permissions
