Connect Claude
Add Domain Pilot as a custom connector in the Claude desktop app or on claude.ai
This guide adds Domain Pilot to Claude as a custom connector. It works the same in the Claude desktop app and on claude.ai, and takes about a minute.
Before You Begin
- A Domain Pilot account. Two-factor authentication (Settings → Security in Domain Pilot) is required once your sign-up grace period ends
- Claude on any plan. Free plans can add one custom connector; on Team and Enterprise plans an Owner adds it for the organisation
Step 1: Add the Connector
- Open Claude and go to Settings → Connectors. On claude.ai this is under Customize → Connectors
- Click Add custom connector
- Enter a name such as
Domain Pilot - For the server URL, enter
https://mcp.domainpilot.io/mcp - Leave the OAuth client ID and secret empty. If Claude asks how to identify itself, choose Register automatically
- Click Add
On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner adds the connector under Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom. Members then find it under Customize → Connectors and click Connect.
Step 2: Sign In to Domain Pilot
Claude opens a Domain Pilot page in your browser.
- Sign in if you are not already signed in
- Check that the page names Claude as the app asking for access
- Click Approve
The browser tab says you can close it, and the connector shows as connected in Claude.
Step 3: Use It in a Chat
- Start a new chat
- Click the + button in the message box and open Connectors
- Make sure Domain Pilot is turned on
- Ask something like "Which of my domains have SSL certificates expiring in the next 30 days?"
Claude asks for approval the first time it uses each tool. Choose Always allow for tools that only read data, such as list_domains, if you do not want to be asked every time, and keep approvals on for tools that change DNS records.
Disconnect
- In Claude, go to Connectors, find Domain Pilot and click Remove
- In Domain Pilot, go to Settings → MCP and click Disconnect next to Claude. This revokes access even if the connector is still listed in Claude
Troubleshooting
The connector shows an error right after adding it. Check the URL is exactly https://mcp.domainpilot.io/mcp, then remove the connector and add it again.
The sign-in page asks for two-factor authentication. Set it up under Settings → Security in Domain Pilot, then click Connect on the connector again.
Claude says it needs to reconnect. The connection expires after 30 days without use. Open Connectors, click Connect on Domain Pilot and sign in again.
